Cross-Border Health Announces Canada-U.S. Roundtable on the Opioid Crisis

In February 2017, President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau signalled a commitment to “common solutions to protect our people from opioid trafficking.” While government-to-government interactions have begun to take place at the federal level, there remains a need to set common goals and create opportunities for collaboration, particularly at the state/provincial and local level of healthcare and social service delivery. There is great potential to build upon and expand existing relationships within each government to address this growing crisis, along with a broader community of stakeholders on both sides of the border. To this end, the Canada-U.S. Roundtable will assemble federal and state health professionals, members from law enforcement communities, policy makers and advocates from both countries.
